چکیده

Hydrogen production via steam reforming of biomass derived oxygenates is a promising environmental alternative to the use fossil fuels. The ethanol reaction investigated over Ni and Rh based catalysts supported on ZrO2-La2O3 CeO2-ZrO2-La2O3 mixed oxides, aiming at elucidation role metal support in mechanism. versus shown be highly active more selective with no methane under all conditions studied. promote efficiently water gas shift reaction, enhancing hydrogen substantially. Time stream studies show that ceria containing supports are stable, whereas gradual deactivation was evident catalysts. TPO analysis spent revealed extremely low amounts graphitic coke deposited On Ni, particularly catalyst, larger peaks corresponding both amorphous were evident, amounting higher production. combined effects make most suitable for Rh/CeO2-ZrO2-La2O3 showing high activity, selectivity stability, minimal CH4 CO resulting highest H2 yield.

Hydrogen Production by Steam Reforming of Ethanol on Rh-Pt Catalysts: Influence of CeO2, ZrO2, and La2O3 as Supports

CeO2-, ZrO2-, and La2O3-supported Rh-Pt catalysts were tested to assess their ability to catalyze the steam reforming of ethanol (SRE) for H2 production. SRE activity tests were performed using EtOH:H2O:N2 (molar ratio 1:3:51) at a gaseous space velocity of 70,600 h−1 between 400 and 700 °C at atmospheric pressure. The SRE stability of the catalysts was tested at 700 °C for 27 h time on stream ...

Steam reforming of methanol over Cu/ZrO2/CeO2 catalysts: a kinetic study

Steam reforming of methanol (SRM) was investigated over Cu/ZrO2/CeO2 (CZC) catalysts prepared via a novel synthetic method based on coprecipitation and polymer templating. Structural characterization of the samples was performed by N2 adsorption-desorption, N2O decomposition, and X-ray diffraction. The variation of the Cu loading resulted in an increased Cu crystallite size and a decreased spec...

Renewable H2 from glycerol steam reforming: effect of La2O3 and CeO2 addition to Pt/Al2O3 catalysts.

Glycerol is the main byproduct of biodiesel production and its increased production volume derives from the increasing demand for biofuels. The conversion of glycerol to hydrogen-rich mixtures presents an attractive route towards sustainable biodiesel production. Here we explored the use of Pt/Al(2)O(3)-based catalysts for the catalytic steam reforming of glycerol, evidencing the influence of L...

The role of acidic sites and the catalytic reaction pathways on the Rh/ZrO2 catalysts for ethanol steam reforming.

Rh catalysts supported on ZrO(2)-based oxides were studied for ethanol steam reforming (SR) reaction. Pure ZrO(2) as the support resulted in higher H(2) production yield compared to the ZrO(2) oxide decorated with CeO(2), Al(2)O(3), La(2)O(3) or Li(2)O at the reaction temperature of 300 degrees C. Above 450 degrees C, all the catalysts exhibited similar catalytic activity. However, at low react...

Propene versus propane steam reforming for hydrogen production over Pd-based and Ni-based catalysts

Experiments of propane and propene steam reforming have been performed over a Pd–Cu/c-Al2O3 catalyst and over a Ni/NiAl2O4 catalyst. Over the palladium-based catalyst, the steam reforming of propene is faster and more selective than steam reforming of propane. Over the Pd catalyst, the steam reforming of propane is likely inhibited by site poisoning. In contrast, over Ni-based catalyst the refo...
